Season seven will also be shortened to only feature 13 episodes, reported Us magazine. The popular show will, however, be premiering its final installment sooner than anticipated. The two-hour series finale will air on February 18.

There were reports that there is a chance that the series, which stars Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) as a fraud-turned-crime solver, could be shopped around to other broadcast or cable networks.

TNT currently airs reruns of 'The Mentalist', making it a good choice for a potential new home for the show.
