Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9: Gaurav Gera first one to be evicted

But Gaurav aka Chutki isn’t unhappy over his eviction. “After all the show is about dancing, not the gags that do. I came to the show because I have always respected Jhalak and wanted a platform where I could promote my brand - Chutki and Shopkeeper,” he told Hindustan Times.

Confirming reports that he will return to the show next Saturday, Gaurav said, “I am coming back as a guest, to support Salman (Yusuf).”

Gaurav’s eviction leaves eight contestants in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa including actors Karishma Tanna, Arjun Bijlani, Surveen Chawla, Shakti Arora, Helly Shah, chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, dancers Poonam and Priyanka Shah.

Filmmakers Farah Khan and Karan Johar and actor Jacqueline Fernandez are the judges on the show.

Elaborating his future plans, Chutki said his focus is on the digital world. From ringtones to a Chutki app to web series, comic strips and cartoons, Gaurav wants to transform Chutki into a brand. “I know my videos are good I just need people to sample them. I hope, with Jhalak, more people will get to know what I do and Google my videos,” he said.

Gaurav also revealed his plans to leverage the Chutki brand. And if things go according to plan, fans will soon be able to but buy Chutki coffee mugs, Chutki mouse pads, Chutki T-shirts and the like soon. Gingercrush is all set to launch Chutki merchandise by the end of August.
