Sach Ka Saamna returned on the tube on December 18 on Life Ok. Its first season was a record breaker in 2009. It opened with approximately 5 points, which was the highest recorded number for a non-fiction show back then. It continued to garner consistently high ratings in its 50-episode run. This time, although the season is half the size of season one, runs seven-days-a-week, and the curiosity around its underlying theme, corruption, was high, the numbers failed to soar.
Season Two opened with 0.84 points and this week, according to the numbers issued by TAM India, it has dropped to 0.4, despite a series of hot-seat-grabbers who’ve been admitting to all kinds of corrupt activities.
Actor Rajeev Khandelwal, anchoring the desi Moment Of Truth for the second time, is undeterred by the numbers.
“Everything cannot be structured according to TRPs. I know for a fact that a lot of people follow the show and have waited a long time for its second edition. My wife is one of them. She appreciates the way I take the show forward with contestants who’re giving away the most sensitive details of their lives,” says Rajeev, adding, “So, ratings don’t matter to me. Audience reaction does. The season is small. The day it ends, it will leave a lot of people asking for more.”

{{/usCountry}}Last week, closer to New Year’s Eve, a contestant, for the first time, admitted that he had coaxed someone to commit suicide. Another one confessed to bribing and cheating people for contracts.
“I think people are either at a point where they can’t live with certain truths buried in their hearts, or they know it doesn’t matter if they give away these intimate details of their life,” explains Rajeev.
“They can handle whatever happens after they’ve confessed. We’ve definitely not chosen contestants for sensationalism.”
