It was a bizarre proposition from the word go. Or ‘action’, in this case. The production crew of UTV Bindaas’ horror reality show The Chair wrapped up the shoot of season one by filming the eighth and final episode in rural Gujarat.

For a unit that has been in chase of the supernatural for around six months now, it was a befitting way to say ‘cut’.

“We weren’t sure how the show would work considering that the subject is so difficult and controversial. But we have managed to pull it off,” says Arjun Menon, creative director, who after a whole night’s shoot tackling spirits in an abandoned haunted mansion, was taking stock of the past eight episodes.

Menon and his crew of ghost hunters traced haunted locales all around India and, with the help of psychic Swati Prakash, shot with what they believe are spirits.

“We followed Swati’s direction. If she felt the energies were too dangerous, we avoided those locations. But each episode gets scarier than the previous one,” says Sanjay Chandran, executive producer, who is unsure if The Chair will return for season two.
