Watch Skyfall on your TV this Sunday

The latest James Bond film, Skyfall (which premieres today, October 27, at 1pm and will be screened again at 9pm on Sony Pix) was one of the biggest grossers for a Hollywood film last year.

In India, the race to the TV premiere is mostly run by Bollywood films. The logic is simple enough. A film that makes big money at the box office — Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012) or Ek Tha Tiger (2012), for instance — will also generate high TRPs.

Now, however, with the market increasingly receptive towards foreign productions, the demand for new Hollywood films has seen a rapid rise.

The latest James Bond film, Skyfall (which premieres today, October 27, at 1pm and will be screened again at 9pm on Sony Pix) was one of the biggest grossers for a Hollywood film last year.

In fact, the Sam Mendes-directed film starring Daniel Craig as secret agent 007, set the record for the second-highest opening weekend for a Hollywood film in India (`2.75 cr reportedly) when it released here in November, 2012. Add to that list the two previous James Bond films — Quantum of Solace (2008) and Casino Royale (2006) — and The Amazing Spider-man (2012), which also had remarkable box office opening.

Skyfall won several awards when it released, including Best British Film at the BAFTA, besides an Oscar and a Golden Globe for the title track. In the film, a former agent, Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem), attacks MI6 and tries to discredit M (Judi Dench).
