Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a traditional Māori powhiri ceremonial welcome at Government House in Auckland during his historic visit to New Zealand—the first by an Indian Prime Minister in nearly 40 years. PM Modi was warmly welcomed by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon before holding bilateral talks focused on strengthening trade, investment, education, sports, and Indo-Pacific cooperation. The visit also includes interactions with business and sports leaders and an address to the Indian diaspora. Following the India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement, this landmark visit is expected to further deepen bilateral ties and expand strategic cooperation between the two nations.
