Baby endangered rhino makes first public appearance
Updated on Aug 11, 2018 03:13 pm IST
Baby rhino Malindi, born one week ago at Chester Zoo in the UK, was seen playing outside on Wednesday for the first time since his birth. Malindi spent over an hour running and playing in the dirt and strolling with his mum before taking a nap. The baby rhino was born on July 31 in front of onlookers at the zoo, unusual for rhinos who usually give birth in the night time. The Eastern black rhino is listed as critically endangered on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) Red List and experts believe only some 650 remain in the wild.
