Bad news for EU & NATO: Putin's Borei‑class 'doomsday' nuclear submarines to remain active till...

Russia has reaffirmed that its Borei-class ballistic missile submarines will remain the backbone of the country's sea-based nuclear deterrent into the 2060s. Russian Navy Commander Admiral Alexander Moiseyev said the Borei fleet is expected to stay in service for another 30 to 40 years, gradually replacing the remaining Soviet-era Delta IV strategic submarines. Armed with 16 Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missiles capable of carrying multiple nuclear warheads, the Borei-class is central to Moscow's nuclear strategy. Russia commissioned its eighth Borei-class submarine, Knyaz Pozharsky, in July 2025, marking the fifth vessel of the improved Borei-A variant. President Vladimir Putin has said the submarines provide Russia with a decisive strategic advantage and can remain concealed beneath Arctic ice for extended periods, strengthening the country's nuclear deterrence.
