‘Ban it now’: What’s the controversy around 2017 film ‘Why I Killed Gandhi’

- A 2017 short film on Mahatma Gandhi's assassin - Nathuram Godse has become the centre of a major political controversy. Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole has written to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray seeking a ban on the film, claiming that it glorifies Mahatma's killers. His letter comes after All India Cine Workers Association urged the Prime Minister to ban the movie citing the same reason. Amol Kolhe - NCP MP and the actor who played the role of Godse in the film is also facing flak for his portrayal of Godse. The short film is slated to release on OTT platform on January 30 on Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary. It's trailer was recently released on YouTube.
