Updated on Jun 20, 2017 03:33 pm IST
Torrential rains over the past few days have left various parts of Manipur flooded, thereby leaving the locals devastated. Major rivers in the region are flowing above the danger mark and hundreds of houses and paddy fields in all the four districts of Imphal valley- Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur have been affected because of the overflowing rivers. So far, around 250 homes and 1000 acres of paddy fields including fish farms have been damaged in Paobitek and Upokpi village because of a huge water volume and turbulent current coming from the Imphal River. Reportedly, the state government has joined hands with local MLAs and opened relief camps in the worst-affected sites.
