Varanasi Flyover Collapse: Construction agency probed for two incidents but no action taken

At least 18 people were dead and many more trapped when a portion of an under-construction flyover collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi during the evening rush-hour on 15th May.The incident took place near the Cantonment railway station in Varanasi. The collapse of this under-construction flyover is not the only accident involving the state's premier bridge construction agency. The UP State Bridge Corporation Limited, which has earlier won praise for doing good work and constructed bridges and flyovers in Indian cities as well as in as well as Iraq, Yemen and Nepal, had come under investigation twice earlier.
