Colombia’s Vice Minister for Multilateral Affairs, Mauricio Jaramillo Jassir, warned on Tuesday that the U.S. military operation in Venezuela threatens peace and security across Latin America and violates international law. Speaking at an extraordinary Organization of American States session, Jaramillo said Colombia categorically rejects any action undermining Venezuela’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political autonomy, and stressed that the region must remain a “zone of peace.” He also criticised defamatory remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump targeting Colombian President Gustavo Petro. Colombia reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful dispute resolution and respect for international norms.
