‘14 lakh cases daily...’: Centre’s warning if ‘UK-like’ Omicron situation arises

Amid Omicron variant spike, Niti Aayog member Dr VK Paul has expressed concern. Dr Paul highlighted the worrying spread of Omicron in Europe & compared it to the population of India. "If we look at the scale of spread in the UK and if there is a similar outbreak in India, then given our population, there will be 14 lakh cases every day," Dr Paul said. The Niti Aayog member also said that genome sequencing of every sample is not possible. He added, "Genome sequencing of every sample is not possible. It is a surveillance and pandemic assessment and tracking tool, not a diagnostic tool as of now.” Watch the full video for more.
