'50 crore vaccines': Joe Biden's latest move - USA's 'no strings' Covid aid

• US President Joe Biden said the US would donate 500 million Covid vaccines to help speed the pandemic's end. The US President urged global leaders to join him in sharing vaccines with needy nations. Biden was speaking in England ahead of a summit of the Group of Seven world leaders. “Raging Covid in other countries holds back global growth, raises instability. The key to reopening the growing economy is vaccinating people,” he said. The US president added, “Today, we are taking a major step to help the world fight against the pandemic. The US will purchase & donate an additional half a billion doses of Pfizer vaccines. These vaccines will be donated to around 100 low & middle-income countries. This vaccine is proving to be extremely effective against every known Covid variant.” Biden further said, “These half a billion vaccines will start to be shipped in August. 200 million of these doses will be delivered this year, in 2021. The Remaining 300 million doses will be delivered in the first half of 2021. The US is sharing this half a billion vaccine doses with no string attached.” The US was leading the world in new Covid cases & deaths over much of the last year. However, its rapid vaccination program now positions it among the leaders of the global recovery.
