Can Covid vaccine dose mix-up be dangerous? Top govt official answers

  • Amid reports of a vaccine mix-up in Uttar Pradesh’s Sidharthnagar village, the Centre has now clarified its stand on the issue. Dr. VK Paul, Member of NITI Aayog said that the government’s protocols clearly say that the same vaccine should be administered in both the doses. He added that a mixing of doses may not have any severe adverse effects. He also added that the incident in the Uttar Pradesh village should be probed where about 20 villagers were administered Covaxin earlier this month after they were given Covishield in the first dose.
