Covid update: 1 bn vaccine doses; ICMR on plasma therapy; decisive 3 months

From Serum Institute readying one billion doses to ICMR commenting on plasma therapy, here are the top updates on coronavirus. Serum Institute of India (SII) is readying one billion doses of five potential Covid-19 vaccines. SII has also partnered with AstraZeneca for Covishield's production. Covishield is currently in the third stage of clinical trials. Bharat Biotech's Covid-19 vaccine candidate Covaxin is likely to be 60% effective, the company said. Bharat Biotech is also in talks to take Covaxin global. More than 10 countries have shown interest in the potential Covid-19 vaccine. Meanwhile, ICMR said plasma therapy has no benefits for Covid-19 patients. ICMR study found that the therapy did not prevent progression to severe disease.
