Covid | ‘50% deaths among 10% population’: Govt breaks down mortality data

The Union government briefed the media about the current situation regarding the Covid-19 pandemic. Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that India's recovery rate, ie the ratio of recovered patients to total infections, has improved to 48.07%. Over 3,700 patients recovered on June 1, 2020. Agarwal also said that India's performance in Covid control should be compared only with countries which have similar population levels. The government also presented an analysis of Covid-linked deaths, with 50% casualties occurring in the 60 and above age group, which comprises 10% of the population. Watch the full video for more.
