Covid update: Another vaccine’s 94% efficacy claim; WHO says vaccine not enough

From India's streak of daily recoveries outnumbering new infections reaching 44 days, to another pharma claiming a big vaccine breakthrough - here are the top news updates on the Covid-19 pandemic. After Pfizer, Moderna said that interim data from its clinical trials of its vaccine candidate showed 94.5% efficacy in preventing infection. Earlier, Pfizer said early data from its vaccine trial showed 90% efficacy. Indian firm Bharat Biotech is working on a new vaccine in the form of nasal drops, while its current vaccine candidate is in Phase 3 human trial. Meanwhile, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, chief of the World Health Organisation, said that a vaccine by itself won't end the pandemic, but will only complement other tools.
