Covid update: Nurse rape case; 5 states 70% deaths; Haryana CM’s condition

From the Union government revealing that just 5 states account for 70% of the deaths, to a 44-year-old nurse alleging rape by a health inspector in Kerala - here are the top news updates on the Covid-19 pandemic. The states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka account for most Covid cases in the country. 60% of the total infections and 62% of active cases can be attributed to the 5 states. Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's vital parameters are normal, as per his doctors. He was admitted to a private hospital on August 25 for Covid treatment. The southern state of Tamil Nadu crossed a significant milestone with over 4 lakh recoveries being recorded. The state still has over 51,000 active cases. In international news, the United Kingdom witnessed its single-highest increase in cases since May 23, 2020. The global case tally has crossed 2.7 crore as per World Health Organisation data.
