Covid update: Pfizer’s 95% efficacy claim; Delhi wedding guests limited to 50

From Pfizer vaccine's efficacy claim to India's vaccine purchase, here are the top updates on the pandemic. Pfizer Inc. and BioNtech SE said their vaccine candidate is 95% effective in late-stage clinical trials. The biotech firms plan to apply for US regulatory authorization for Covid-19 shots. Pfizer's vaccine candidate needs ultra-cold storage at around minus 75 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, a Wall Street Journal study report said India ranks 3rd in the number of Covid-19 vaccine doses a country is committed to procuring. India's confirmed dose purchases exceed 1.5 billion doses which are more than the EU and US. BRICS grouping has said it will work for the “fair, equitable and affordable” distribution of vaccines. This comes ahead of WTO taking up a proposal to waive patent protection for Covid-19 vaccines. Meanwhile, only 50 guests will be allowed at a wedding in Delhi.
