Covid vaccine: India, Russia in talks after Putin declares drug ready-for-use

The Narendra Modi administration revealed that India and Russia are in talks over the Covid vaccine developed by the latter. Russia became the first country to clear a vaccine ready for use. President Vladimir Putin made the announcement on August 11, claiming his daughter was also inoculated. However, experts have raised concern over the swift regulatory approval. The Indian government said that preliminary information has been shared between the two countries, while detailed information is awaited. Other vaccines being developed across the world are still in clinical trials. India also has three vaccine candidates currently under study. Balram Bhargava, Director-General of the Indian Council of Medical Research, briefed the media about the various stages of clinical trials that the different vaccines are in.
