- India extended 'deep appreciation' to nations providing priority requirements to battle Covid-19. It said that the pandemic 'sharpened our awareness' of the depth of global interdependence. India added that it provided vaccines, medical equipment to over 150 countries last year. “Covid sharpened the world's awareness of the depth of global interdependence. The world is only as resilient as the least resilient country. It's imperative for countries to coordinate responses to pandemic challenges. The pandemic has also underlined the need for global solidarity,” Foreign secretary, Harsh Vardhan Shringla said. He added, “Over past year, we provided vaccines, medical equipment to over 150 countries. We extend deep appreciation to those providing priority requirements.” India provided Covid vaccines to its neighbours as well as nations in Latin America, Africa. As per May 7 MEA data, a total of 66.37 million Made-in-India vaccines have been sent to 95 nations.
