‘Lockdown not sustainable, hasn’t broken chain of infection’: Manish Tewari
Updated on May 11, 2020 03:56 pm IST
Congress slammed the Modi govt over increasing Covid-19 cases in India. Party spokesperson Manish Tewari said that the lockdown has wiped out Rs 18 lakh crore from the economy. He added that the lockdown hasn't been able to break the chain of infection. “Cost of each day of lockdown is about Rs 30,000 crore. The Centre needs to look at the number of fatalities and they need to see if they've been able to ramp up the hospital infrastructure,” Tewari said. Later in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with the CMs of all states to discuss the lockdown exit plan. PM Modi and CMs will decide if there should be further relaxations or a full exit.
