Omicron: India's first 2 cases of Covid variant detected in Karnataka

Two Covid cases of the Omicron variant have been detected in Karnataka, the Union Health Ministry said. These are the first cases of the fast-spreading variant to be reported in India. "Two cases of Omicron variant have been reported in the country so far. Both cases are from Karnataka," Lav Agarwal, joint secretary, Union health ministry, said at a press briefing today. "All primary contacts and secondary contacts of both the cases have been traced and are being tested," Agarwal further said.
