‘On the brink of a new cold war’: China on ties with US after Covid outbreak

The war of words between China and the US escalated over the Covid-19 outbreak. After US president Donald Trump on several occasions blamed China for the virus, China has now said that Washington seemed to be infected by a political virus. Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi said that some political forces in the US have taken the China-US relations hostage and added that ties now stand on the brink of a new Cold War.
