SII's Adar Poonawalla on new vaccine for India: 'Covavax for adults by Oct' hope

- Serum Institute of India’s CEO Adar Poonawalla said on Friday that he is ‘hopeful’ of launching American pharmaceutical firm Novavax's Covid vaccine candidate Covavax in India for adults in October 2021. Poonawalla also said that Covavax for children could be launched as early as the beginning of the next year. The SII Chief was in Delhi and met Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to discuss ramping up vaccine production in the country, he also met Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss vaccine challenges.
