Aishwarya Rai confirms she was Bhansali’s first choice for Padmaavat

Padmaavat is one of the biggest and the first blockbluster of 2018. Starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, Sanjay Leela Bhansali went through a lot of trouble before his film made it to the screen because of Karni Sena and their protest about Rajasthani culture being destroyed. Deepika Padukone received death threats for playing Rani Padmini in the film, but all of this could have been faced by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. That is right! Sanjay Leela Bhansali's first choice for Rani Padmini was Aishwarya and the actor herself confessed this in an interview with Spotboye. She said, “He didn't get the Bajirao for me. He wanted me to do Padmaavat, but could not get the Khilji for me, at the casting time. So, that's how it didn't happen.” According to reports, Bhansali initially wanted to make Bajirao Mastani with Aishwarya and Salman Khan but the project couldn't happen after their ugly break-up. The film finally happened with Deepika and Ranveer.
