Shah Rukh Khan says Bollywood should be scared of Netflix and Amazon Prime

Updated on Feb 21, 2018 06:49 pm IST

Shah Rukh Khan at a recent event made his concerns about the future of Indian cinema pretty vocal. He felt it was about time that more theatres should be opened in those places in India where there aren't. He named movies likes Bahubali and Dangal who have amassed critical as well as commercial acclaim globally but have just been able to get 3 crore people in the movie theatres. He felt we need to cater to the left 122-125 crore audience that is still deprived of our cinema. With the major online players like Netflix and Amazon Prime taking the Indian digital market space by storm, SRK wonders whether it's time for Bollywood to either adapt to the changing terms or be where they are the present moment. But the recent studies are showing a different trend when it comes to the popularity of Indian cinema. But does Bollywood really need to be scared of Netflix and Amazon Prime?
