Watch: Referee pulls out gun during Brazil football match
A refereee pulled out a gun, instead of the red card, during a soccer amateur tournament in Brazil's Brumadinho. The events took place during a clash between Brumadinho and Amantes Da Bola when a controversial decision by the ref sparked an angry reaction from the visiting team. After being confronted by the soccer players, he went back to the locker room and came back armed.
The referee is also a policeman and had his gun at the stadium. According to a spokesperson from the Minais Gerais Football Association, the official - who claimed to have felt “threatened” by the players -therefore “had the right to carry and exhibit firearms”.
Despite the mess, there were no shootings. Nobody was arrested , but the referee was ordered to consult with a psychologist.
