Gaza Ceasefire: U.S.’ Blinken Says Some Hamas Changes ‘Unworkable’; Calls On Hamas To Stop Haggling

The U.S. State Secretary lashed out at Hamas after it proposed "numerous" changes to the ceasefire deal. Antony Blinken stressed that some of the changes proposed by Hamas were "unworkable". However, unlike Israel, Blinken did not call Hamas' response a clear rejection of the deal. He also called on Hamas to stop haggling and accept the ceasefire proposal to end the war. Blinken stated, "In the days ahead, we are going to push on an urgent basis with our partners, with Qatar, with Egypt, to try to close this deal, because we know it's in the interest of Israelis, Palestinians, the region; indeed, the entire world." He added, "The longer this goes on, and remember, Hamas had this for twelve days. And it's not as if the world stood still on those twelve days. People were suffering throughout those twelve days. The longer this goes on, the more people will suffer, and it's time for the haggling to stop and a ceasefire to start."
