For the first time, famine has been officially declared in Gaza. A UN-backed food security monitor revealed that over half a million people are already starving, with the toll set to rise further. The IPC report described “starvation, destitution, and death” spreading across Gaza, as Israel intensified its new mission in Gaza City. UN Chief António Guterres made an urgent plea, warning of a man-made catastrophe. But Israel swiftly dismissed the findings as biased and flawed, releasing its own counter-report.
