A deadly strike at Mawiya Junction in Yemen’s Taiz province has deepened tensions between Saudi-backed government forces and the Houthis. The Houthi-run Health Ministry said seven people were killed and 40 wounded, including children, after shops near the market were hit on September 27. Footage showed destroyed vehicles and damaged buildings, with Reuters partially verifying the location. Yemen’s internationally recognised government later said its forces had targeted a nearby Houthi military camp and military vehicles, while the exact circumstances of the market strike remain disputed.
