How encroachments have become public safety hazard in national capital: Delhi housing crisis, part 3

Delhi's housing crisis isn't just about homes—it's also about the steady disappearance of public spaces. In Part 3 of our series, we explore how parks, roads, pavements and emergency access routes across the capital are increasingly being taken over by illegal parking, commercial spillovers, shop extensions and other encroachments. From a neighbourhood park in Shalimar Bagh turning into a parking lot to fire engines struggling to reach burning buildings in Palam Colony, the shrinking of public space is creating serious safety risks. Despite laws, court orders, parking policies and repeated anti-encroachment drives, the problem continues to plague Delhi.
