IAC Vikrant begins 3rd phase of sea trials

India's first indigenous carrier (IAC) begins another sea trial. The 40,000-tonne aircraft carrier is the largest and most complex warship to be built in India. President Kovind and Vice-President Naidu recently visited the indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC). Built at a cost of around `23,000CR, IAC Vikrant is likely to be inducted by August 2022. IAC Vikrant completed a 5-day maiden sea voyage in August and underwent 10-day sea trials in October. The maiden sea trials focussed on establishing propulsion, navigational suite and basic operations. The second sea trial focussed on various machinery trials and flight trials. Third phase of sea trials for IAC Vikrant - focus on complex manoeuvres in high seas.
