Sri Lanka staged a huge upset by beating World Cup hosts England by 20 runs. The former won the toss and decided to bat first. Angelo Mathews' 85 helped the team reach a total of 232. England's chase was spoiled by superb bowling by Lasith Malinga and Dhananjaya da Silva who snatched 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Malinga's performance helped him bag the player of the match title.
