AAP government announces free bus, Metro rides for women

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced free bus, Metro rides for women in Delhi. AAP government says that the move is for enhancing women security in the city. The subsidy provided will be voluntary and women who can afford are encouraged to pay for their ticket, Kejriwal announced. Nearly 30 per cent of the 40 lakh commuters who travel in state-run buses are estimated to be women. This would ensure that women can access modes of transport which they were not able to, due to high prices and ensure a safe travel experience, the Chief Minister said.
