Updated on Mar 09, 2020 04:49 pm IST

A body planning an agitation against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, decided to cancel its protest after a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Joint Movement Against Citizenship Amendment Bill (JMACAB), from Tripura, had planned an indefinite strike. However, following a meeting with Shah in Delhi, the outfit decided to call off the strike. Meanwhile, protests are continuing in parts of North-East against the legislation. BJP blames misleading statements by Opposition leaders for the anger.
