Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the staff of the Prime Minister's Office a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party swept the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi said that his aim was to make the PMO more efficient, rather than more effective. He said that efficiency acts as a catalyst in the system. The BJP won 303 seats in the 543-member Lower House of the Parliament, thus decimating the Opposition and securing a historic second term.
