Updated on Apr 13, 2018 05:37 pm IST

Farmers in Sehore have dumped their tomato produce on the road. They did this after they were being paid unfair prices for the crop. The farmers are helpless as they might not even have money to grow their next crop. Farmers across the nation are grappling with this problem where they are unable to sustain their livelihoods and they don't get proper prices for their produce. The numbers of farmer suicides have risen in the last few years. According to National Crime Records Bureau of India's 2012 report, 13,755 farmers committed suicide. 76% of these were from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala. As per the government over 12,000 suicides get reported every year since 2013.
