Mahatma Gandhi’s ties with Bajaj family - the untold stories

Updated on Mar 03, 2020 02:35 pm IST

Rahul Bajaj, Chairman of Bajaj Group and grandson of Shri Jamunalal Bajaj whom Mahatma Gandhi referred to as his 'fifth son,' shares two very interesting and unheard stories about Mahatma Gandhi that could be a lessons for modern day leaders. In the first story, Mr. Rahul Bajaj narrates how Mahatma Gandhi convinces a young and reluctant Kamalnayan Bajaj (father of Rahul Bajaj), to voluntarily clean toilets as a part of daily activities at the Wardha Ashram. In the second story, Gandhi ji sways a newly wed Savitri Bajaj (mother of Rahul Bajaj), who never wore Khadi before in her life, to take up Khadhi for life. In a world, where increasingly choices and preferences are forced onto people, the two stories showcase how a great leader, Mahatma Gandhi, was able to positively influence, nudge and encourage people to do the right thing (and continue doing it for life), without ever forcing them to.
