Cyclone Nisarga approaches Maharashtra coast, NDRF teams on alert

Cyclone Nisarga is likely to hit coastal parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The tropical cyclone is expected to make landfall near Mumbai on June 3. NDRF teams are on alert in parts of coastal Maharashtra. As many as 21 NDRF teams have been deployed in two neighbouring states and 10 teams are on standby. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani chaired a high level meeting in Ahmedabad to review situation. Nisarga is expected to cross Maharashtra's Harihareshwar and Daman coast on June 3 evening. Earlier, IMD informed that a low-pressure area has been formed near southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep. Union Home Minister Amit Shah held review meetings with officials of NDMA and NCMC.
