Death warrant in Delhi 2012 gangrape case: Rapists to be hanged on Jan 22

A Delhi court issued a death warrant in the case related to the gangrape of a woman in December 2012, which later came to be known as the Nirbhaya case. The court ordered that the four rapists be hanged on January 22, 2020. The victim's parents welcomed the development. The mother said that the move would strengthen people's trust in the judiciary. The father said that it would instil fear in the minds of such criminals. However, the lawyer of the rapists plans to file a curative petition, as per news agency ANI. In such a scenario, the death warrant would be put on hold.
