Former Union Minister & BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand arrested in rape case

Former Union Minister and BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand has been arrested from his ashram in Shahjahanpur. The 72-year-old BJP leader has been accused of rape by a 23-year-old law student. The case hogged headlines when the girl disappeared after posting a video on social media where she alleged that a senior leader of the seer community was harassing and threatening to kill her. The girl was later found in Rajasthan, following which the Supreme Court ordered the UP govt to form a special investigation team to probe the case.
