Govt announces population register: Amit Shah explains NPR, NRC difference

On Tuesday, the Central government announced the creation of a National Population Register next year. The government said that it was a decadal exercise which started in 2010 under the UPA administration. However, critics raised questions given the protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 and a National Register of Citizens. Union Home Minister Amit Shah sought to dispel fears of a link between NRC and NPR. Watch the full video for more.
