HBO’s Chernobyl’s success sends tourists to Lithuanian capital, Vilnius

Vilnius, capital of Lithuania is experiencing a boom in tourists after TV series, Chernobyl's success. Many locations featured in the HBO series were filmed in Vilnius. Tours are being organised by Go Vilnius agency, explaining how the tragedy affected Lithuanians living there. The tourism board is aiming to capitalise on the interest in the old Soviet era. Tours to the Ignalina Power Plant have also been organised for the so called atomic tourists. Identical to Chernobyl, many scenes have been filmed inside the power plant.
