In setback for Cong, son of Maharashtra LoP joins BJP

In a setback for Congress, the son of the Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly defected to the BJP. Sujay, son of Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, joined the saffron party in the presence of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. The Congress and NCP are contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections together in Maharashtra to try and defeat the BJP and Shiv Sena combine. The Congress has suffered a string of resignations and defections in recent days, with at least 3 Gujarat MLAs quitting the party in the span of 4 days.
