India named TS Tirumurti as its next permanent representative to the United States. Tirumurti replaced Syed Akbaruddin who is set to retire this month. India's UN envoy Akbaruddin, who held the post since January 2016, bowed out with a Namaste. Akbaruddin is one of the most visible faces of Indian diplomacy. He played a crucial role in pushing to designate Pakistan-based JeM chief Masood Azhar as a 'global terrorist' by the UN.
