Lynching cases rising as elections inch closer: Mallikarjun Kharge
Updated on Jul 22, 2018 04:35 pm IST
In wake of the lynching of a man in Alwar over alleged cow smuggling, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Lynching cases are increasing as the elections are nearing.”
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court reprimanded the government and said there should be a law to prevent such instances. During the no-confidence motion debate in Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the responsibility of protecting people against lynching was with the state governments and asked them to take action against the lynchers.
