Mamata unveils new Vidyasagar bust, jabs Centre amid fresh TMC-BJP clashes
Updated on Jun 11, 2019 11:26 pm IST
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee installed a new statue of 19th century educationist and reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar at a college in Kolkata. A bust at the same college had been destroyed during political clashes between the All India Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party amid campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections. Violence in West Bengal continues even weeks after the results have been announced. Both parties blame each other for the bloodshed. Mamata used the opportunity to attack the BJP and the Central government.
