Missiles, fighter jets, medical tech: PM Modi’s ‘atmanirbhar’ India examples

Addressing the nation on Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Atmanirbhar Bharat has become a mantra for 130 crore Indians. PM Modi spoke from the ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi on Saturday. The Prime Minister also expressed confidence that the country will realise the dream, adding that the dream of self-reliance is turning into a pledge. He further said that this Independence Day was special because in the next year India will enter the 75th year of its independence. PM Modi's seventh straight Independence Day speech came amid the global coronavirus pandemic, a border standoff with China and a slew of reforms by the government under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. India celebrates the country's 74th Independence Day on August 15. Additional cops have been deployed at borders and across the national capital to maintain the law and order situation.
